It is an easy, fast-growing plant \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003ethat has the flavor and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003escent of cucumbers. In fact, the young leaves and blooms are edible. Gardeners love borage for two main reasons: \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eit attracts beneficial insects and pollinators like no other plant, and it is a superb companion \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eplant for tomatoes, squash and strawberries. Some gardeners \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eswear that nearby borage will actually improve the flavor of their \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003etomatoes. The greenish-gray stems are covered in prickly fuzz, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003ewhich serves as a deterrent to insects. Borage blooms in summer and fall months\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003e, with the blooms hanging downward in clusters. Borage is also \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003euseful for permaculture gardens and does well in containers. The \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eflowers and leaves are edible.
