A succulent perennial shrub, native to Mexico.  The leaves are bright green, curved, easily confused with \u003cem\u003eS. praealtum.  \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cem\u003eS. dendroideum\u003c\/em\u003e blunter leaves and more of a tendency to red margins under stress, which is considered desirable.  Profuse yellow star-shaped blossoms put on a lovely show in late winter to early spring, very attractive to both bees and hummingbirds; deer and rodent resistant.
