Allium schoenoprasum - Chives

Chives are a mild, grass like member of the onion family and have a  mild onion flavor in their leaves, flower buds and flowers. This perennial herb is widely used as a garnish and in cooking.  The edible flowers are a hit with garden bees, and the plants are drought tolerant and conducive to containers. They thrive in cool weather and will self seed.  Divide the clumps every several years to avoid overcrowding.  Deer resistant.
