Arctostaphylos 'Emerald Carpet' - Emerald Carpet manzanita

A hybrid of Arctstaphylos uva-ursi and Arctostaphylos nummularia, Emerald Carpet manzanita is an evergreen ground cover that forms a dense mat 6-12 inches tall and 3-5 feet wide. Drought tolerate, it tolerates clay soils but looks its best in richer well-draining and acidic soil to look its best. Dark green foliage on red stems with white flowers in January and February.

Light: Prefers sun in coastal sites, and part shade in inland sites
Soil: Tolerates a wide variety of soils, but a richer well-draining acidic soil.
Water: Drought tolerant once established, but enjoys occasional summer water (2x/month), especially away from the coast.
