Baccharis pilularis, known as Coyote Bush, is a common California shrub and California Keystone species that grows in Coastal and Inland areas in any type of soil.  This shrub grows 2 to 10 feet tall and up to 12 feet wide, has bright green serrated ovate leaves yellowish-white flowers that are very attractive to insects.  Coyote bush is an excellent bank stabilization or groundcover selection. It is drought tolerant and said to be fire-resistant.

Native Evergreen Shrub 

Size: 2-10 feet tall; up to 12 feet wide

Light: Full sun. partial shade

Soil: Sand, clay, alkaline PH 5.0 -8.0.  Fast, medium or slow draining.

Water: Very low to low.  Irrigate 1 time per week until established.

Bloom: Blooms all year with white to light yellow flowers.

Other Uses: Can be pruned or trimmed up in the garden.  Bank stabilization and ground cover. This is an important California Keystone species and a good addition to a hedgerow.
