Basil is the quintessential summer herb companion to luscious summer tomatoes. Because we have such late tomato crops in our area this year, we're pushing for many  months of basil! This is the most popular basil variety: steadfastly wonderful flavor, easy to grow, and aromatic. Best used fresh, basil can also flavor meats and mild-flavored vegetables, as well as serve as the base for fresh pesto. Basil should be harvested when or before buds begin to form up. Can be grown indoors! Make those tomatoes pop!
