The CA Poppy has been the state flower of California since its selection in 1890: Golden blooms - Golden State. The leaves are divided into round, lobed segments. The flowers are solitary on long stems, silky-textured with four petals, and vivid hues of orange and yellow. These native annuals bloom from February through September, but most prolifically in the drier summer months. Poppies re-seed easily, and it’s also easy to collect the seeds. An important pollinator, poppies are popular for bringing the 3 Bs to gardens, for their vivid splashes of color, for their low water needs, and for being deer resistant.

Light: CA Poppies do best in full sun.
