Clivia miniata is commonly also known as Bush Lily and Natal lily. This showy clump-forming rhizomatic perennial has long, bright green, strappy leaves and produces strong flower stems topped with heads of large funnel-shaped flowers. Clivia are endemic to South Africa and have been popular in Europe and the United States since the 1800's. In many parts of the country they are grown as indoor plants. Will naturalize in coastal California but is not considered invasive.

Size: 2 ft tall Light: Prefers partial or full shade Soil: Well drained, airy soil Water: Prefer slightly moist soil in the growing season but avoid overwatering. Bloom: Late winter and spring; blooms better when left undisturbed and slightly root bound.
