Aeonium simsii - 'Sims aeonium'

This easy-to grow, low and well-branched succulent stays under 2' with a dense mat of clustered green rosettes with pointed tips. In late spring the showy, yellow flowers rise above the leaves on a stout stalk. This is a nice groundcover succulent with attractive foliage and showy flowers that draws bees and butterflies to the garden. It is useful as a mounding groundcover on hillsides, in tight spaces between rocks or in a large pot. Plant in full coastal sun with some protection inland in a well drained soil and irrigate occasionally to infrequently. Can tolerate moderate frosts of short duration. Deer and rodent resistant.

Light: full sun to part shade
Soil: Well-drained, or regular potting soil is ok.
Water: Weekly; less often during summer dormancy. Allow to dry between waterings.
Bloom: showy yellow inflorescence; monocarpic (dies after bloom), with many pups continuing on. Reliable bloomer.
Uses: container, landscape, water wise
