Streptanthus insignis - San Benito Jewelflower
Pot Size: Gallon
This annual native herb is uncommon and special, and hails from the Mustard family. Endemic to California, it thrives in grasslands and chaparral habitats. The hairy, bristly, branching stem grows up to 2 feet tall. Maroon Purple or Greenish-yellow flowers occur at intervals on the upper stem.

Light: Full Sun
Soil: Tolerates clay soil but does best in well drained soil
Water: Drought Tolerant once established
Bloom: March through May with flowers that are either maroon purple or greenish yellow
Other Uses and Notes: “San Benito Jewelflower" would be a rare addition to any garden. It does especially well on slopes and oak woodland. Attracts Butterflies, Easy To Grow, Good in Butterfly and Bee Friendly Gardens.
