Brassica rapa - 'Purple Top Milan' Heirloom Turnips

Pot size: One Quart (3 plants per pot)

These fast-growing and productive beautiful turnips are purple on the top half of the turnip. They have a mild flavor and crunchy texture.  These turnips are best used in soups or stews, or roasted and enjoyed on their own. The nutritious tops can be steamed or quickly braised. Note: if the weather turns unexpectedly hot, pull and store the roots in the fridge.

Planting/Spacing: 4-6 inches apart
Days to Maturity: 45 days
Hardiness: Cold tolerant; evenly moist soil preferred. Turnips do not transplant well, so extreme care should be taken when putting them into the ground. Transplant with as much container soil attached to roots as possible.
