Thyme is an intensely aromatic perennial herb that is a garden staple in practically all Mediterranean cuisines. With mounds of cascading tiny, aromatic gray-green leaves, this long-living garden perennial is reliably productive. The leaves are slightly spicy and combine well with the flavors of lemon, garlic, basil and parsley for seasoning vegetables and proteins. English thyme produces little lilac flowers midsummer and plants should be cut back after flowering season.
