Myosotis scorpioides - Forget-Me-Not

This lovely mix of part shade-loving flowers gives you an extended bloom period. M. sylvatica is the traditional, 6"–8" tall forget-me-not that blooms in early spring and is perennial in USDA zones 3–8. Excellent for moist, part-shade areas, as a bulb cover, or early cover for rock gardens.

Size: Grown in clumps up to 12 – 24 inches tall and spread of 6 – 12 inches     
Light: Grow in part shade.     
Soil: As long as you can give them organically enriched soil, regular to ample water, and partial shade, forget-me-nots offer no challenges. They’ll even thrive in the always-moist soil beside a stream or pond. Looks and performs best in cool weather and where summers are not excessively hot. 
Water: Established plants can tolerate dry soil, but regular watering will keep the plants healthier.  Listed as Low water requirement for the Central Coast. 
Bloom: Blooms in late Spring into late Summer. In mild winter areas, starts may be planted in Fall for early Spring flowering. 
Other notes: Bears elongated, curving clusters of 1/4- to 1/3-inch-wide, sparkling sky blue forget-me-not flowers. At bloom time, the blossoms form a cerulean cloud in lightly shaded and woodland plantings. A favorite choice for underplanting spring-blooming bulbs such as daffodils and tulips.  
Uses:  Works well in cottage gardens, border areas and meadows. Will naturalize readily in mild climates, requiring no work from the gardener once established. Butterflies flock to the tiny blue, white and pink flowers, while pesky garden browsers, like deer and rabbits, leave the plants alone. The perennial, true forget-me-not grows well in shallow 3-inch-deep standing water, ideal around ponds or fountains.
