Gaillardia aristata 'Burgundy' is a short-lived perennial cultivar of the wildflower displaying deep wine-red daisy like flowers up to 3 inches across and blooms from spring through fall.  It grows 24" to 30" tall and wide. This is a rich nectar flower that attracts bees, butterflies and other pollinators; the seedheads are enjoyed by the birds.  Gaillardia is an easy flower to grow and care for.  It thrives in full sun, and though it prefers moist, organically rich well-draining soil, does well in medium to dry well-drained soil.  It tolerates dry soil and drought but does require supplemental water during long dry spells.  It makes and excellent cut flower as it is long stemmed.  Well suited for wildflower gardens, rock gardens, cut flower, prairie and meadow gardens.
