Iris germanica - 'Batik'  Bearded Iris

Pot Size:  1 gallon

Over a century of cultivation of Bearded irises have resulted in their being the most popularly grown iris with many hybrids. The “beard” refers to the fuzzy/feathery part of the petal. Each flower of 'Batik' is a uniquely streaked combination of deep purple and bright white. They are easy to grow, and they bring incredible color and elegance to the garden.

NOTE: Keep top of rhizome exposed for better bloom; divide every 3 years. 

Rhizomatous Perennial
Size:  Height varies with cultivar; spreading
Light:  Full sun or light shade
Water:  Moderate to regular, but needs less in summer; somewhat drought tolerant
Soil:  Requires good drainage
Bloom: Purple and white in late spring
Uses:  Mixed borders
Other notes:  Toxic if ingested; rarely causes contact dermatitis; lift and divide clumps every 3-4 years August-October to maintain vigorous bloom.
