Botanical Name: Lepechinia hastata is a rare species of perennial shrub in the mint family commonly known as Baja pitcher sage or Cape pitcher sage.  This is a new product this year.

Size: 4-6 feet wide and high                                                                                                Light: Sun or Shade                                                                                                             Soil: best in soil that drains fairly well                                                                    Water: requires little to no water in coastal gardens                                                       Bloom Color and Season: magenta sage like flowers on open 1 foot long spikes above the foliage at branch tips in summer and early fall                                               Other Notes: Native to Baja and Baja California Sur                                                        Uses: Attracts hummingbirds and bees but deer leave it alone, supports caterpillars and butterflies. Fragrant leaves. Spreads slowly by underground rhizomes. Great for pollinator, cottage, woodland and drought tolerant gardens.
