Linum perenne - 'Blue and Breezy' Flax

Blue Flax is a beautiful short-lived perennial plant, both in and out of bloom, native to Europe. The thin blue green 'leaves' rise up in spires, creating a delicate, lacy, "breezy" plant that fills spaces gracefully. Without much warning, sky blue saucer-shaped flowers (1 inch across) suddenly appear at the ends of the stalks and continue blooming anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks. While individual flowers have a very short bloom time, the profusion of flowers masks that. Flax can withstand heat, humidity and is drought tolerant. Happy plants will self-seed. Gardeners love it year-round!

Semi-evergreen perennial 

Size: 12-24 inches tall, 12-18 inches wide.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade (very adaptable!)
Water: Moderate to low moisture (once established, low)
Bloom:  Sky-blue saucer shaped flowers from spring into fall
Other Notes and Uses: Flax is fantastic for borders/edges and beds, as well as rock gardens, cottage gardens, and Mediterranean gardens.
