Malacothamnus nuttallii 'Casitas', previously known as Malacothamnus fasciculatus, is a horticultural selection that grows primarily in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.  This fast-growing upright spreading mallow grows 6 to 8 feet tall, has pale pink flowers that grow on branching elongated clusters attractive to birds, butterflies and hummingbirds.  It has large greyish-green leaves and other adaptive features representative of Coastal Sage Scrub, Chaparral, and Foothill Woodland plant communities.

Soil: Tolerates a wide variety of soils, fast, medium or slow draining

Water: Low, very low

Bloom: Spring and Summer
