Matthiola incana, commonly known as Stock, is a favorite for cottage gardens, with a sweet clove-like scent, long holding long bloom periods, from spring through fall (and often longer in mild temperatures).  This variety is the "spray" type with multiple flowering side branches rather than a single blooming stalk.  Stock is showy and fragrant and frequently used for bouquets; flower-laden stalks may require staking. Flowers are edible

Size: Grows 2-3 feet in height with a spread of 9-18 inches.     
Light: Grow in sun to partial shade  
Soil: Stock prefers well-drained, moist soil.  
Water: Medium water requirement. 
Bloom: Blooms in Spring all the way through fall; Pink blooms.  
Other notes: Stock prefers cool temperatures and will bolt or stop blooming in temperatures over 80 degrees 
Uses: Stock works well for beds, borders, and  containers, as well as in cut flower arrangements. Usually it provides the fragrance element to a  bouquet or garden
