Nemophila menziesii - Penny Black, also known as Baby Black Eyes, is a Spring flowering California native.  Its compact foliage explodes with a profusion of delicate, white-edged deep maroon flowers.  Deadhead and collect seeds for Fall planting or simply allow this charmer to self-sow.
