 Hooker's Evening Primrose grows primarily on the coast from San Francisco to Northern Baja with its active growth in summer.  It is an easy and fast-growing plant and is fairly long-lived.  It grows up to 5 feet in a branching upright form, has deciduous green leaves and brilliant yellow flowers that bloom in summer.  It is a prolific seeder that attracts many seed-eating birds!

Size: Up to 5 feet tall and wide

Light: Full sun on the Coast, Partial shade inland

Soil: Fast, medium or slow drainage.

Water: Low water but likes moist areas.  Can be drought tolerant in garden conditions. Summer irrigation 1x/month once established

Bloom: Large bright yellow flowers in summer and fall
