Pelargonium zonale - Horseshoe Red Dwarf Geranium

(What we normally call 'geraniums' are actually pelargoniums.) This beauty is a dwarf zonal pelargonium with fantastic foliage and show-stopping bright scarlet blooms. The leaves are hairy and succulent. These beloved plants work great in containers, combination plantings, hanging baskets as well as in an in-ground landscape. Regular deadheading is essential for best appearance and flower production. The photo depicts the actual sale plants.

Type: Evergreen perennial

Light: Prefers full sun, but high heat - 95 and above- should be avoided

Size: 12-16 inches tall, 12-24 inches wide (if in-ground; less in containers)

Soil: Well-drained soil is preferred.

Water: Infrequent watering, but deep (soggy soil will cause root rot)

Bloom: Bright red blooms, from Spring to Fall reliably, but also sometimes more!

Other Notes and Uses: Dwarf pelargoniums do exceptionally well in containers, but also in hanging baskets and in-ground flower beds and borders. They are frost tender and can be brought indoors in the winter, but can also serve as indoor window sill plants!
