Native to California, Phacelia ciliata, is an upright annual herb found on slopes in the foothills of the Coastal and Sierra Nevada Mountain ranges and in the grasslands of the Central Valley.   Attractively veined lobed leaflets growing from slightly hairy, rose-colored stems and branches create a fern-like foliage that supports shoots of multiple 5-petaled pale-throated blue flowers.
