This Ribes variety is a native shrub that grows primarily along the coast and in the Coast Ranges in northern and central California. It tends to grow at elevations from sea level to 5,000 feet, most often in places that are somewhat moist and partly shaded. It tends to be more drought-tolerant closer to the coast. Its overall shape and attractive pink flowers make it suitable for either woodland or more formal gardens. This Ribes is fast growing. Winter deciduous Ribes is also deer resistant.

Native Perennial Shrub
Light: Full sun, part shade
Size: Grows up to 13 ft tall and 7 ft wide.
Soil: Tolerates a variety of soils. Soil PH: 5.0 - 7.
Water: Low, very low. Limit Summer irrigation to 3X month once established.
Bloom: Winter and Spring 
Other notes: Flowers attract Insects and hummingbirds.  Various fruit and seed eating birds are attracted to the berries.
