Native white sage is a cornerstone species of the coastal sage scrub. Leaves are covered with dense hairs which give them a whitish coloring, sometimes leaning towards a bluish tint. White flower spikes shoot up, often 8 feet or more, in dramatic blooms. White sage grows rapidly, and is known to sprawl in gardens. The plant is strongly aromatic, with a powerful sage smell. California's indigenous people use the dried leaves as an incense for ceremonial purposes. As with most salvias, white sage is a magnet for birds, bees, and butterflies, and is deer-resistant. 

Native Perennial
Size: Grows 3-5 feet in height with a spread of 3-8 feet.     
Light: White Sage does best in full sun   
Soil: White Sage does best in well-drained soil, but is very hardy 
Water: Very low water requirement. 
Bloom: Blooms in winter, spring and summer.  
Uses: Dried leaves as incense; garden pollinator.
