Salvia chiapensis is an easy to grow, long-lived plant that provides a bountiful, beautiful bloom year-round on the Central Coast, but it is frost sensitive. Excellent in containers so it can be brought in for the winter. Lovely oval green foliage provides a dense base for the profusion of tall bright fushia colored flowering shoots.  While Chiapas Sage will grow in full sun, it prefers, and grows larger and denser in shade.  Makes an attractive hanging basket, but keep it well watered.Best if cut back hard in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh new growth.
