Salvia guaranitica 'Jean’s Jewels' - Anise Sage

Add a new salvia variety to your pollinator garden or refresh an area with a drought-tolerant stunner! This cultivar was discovered locally at Cabrillo College in Aptos, by Kathleen Navarez. It sports fragrant leaves and showy purplish-pink blooms, which are displayed from late spring through fall. In some areas, Jean’s Jewel will bloom until hard frosts!   Jean’s Jewel is a disease-resistant perennial and its vigorous blooms attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It’s especially beautiful used in beddings or for borders.

Light: Full sun to partial shade 
Soil: Tolerates a variety of soils; good drainage required. 
Water: Drought tolerant once established, but enjoys occasional summer water (2x/month). Once established, over-watering will inhibit blooms.
Bloom: Blooms spring through fall
Other notes: If planted in a container, it must be at least 3 gallons, and incorporate excellent drainage. Rhizome. These are difficult to find in nurseries; supply is always limited.
Uses: Ideally suited for bedding or borders, as well as a showcase plant for a pollinator area.
