Salvia roemeriana - Cedar Sage

Cedar Sage is a fast-growing woodland Salvia native to Texas, Arizona and Northern Mexico. Its bright green, lush foliage presents a generous display of bright scarlet flowers on spikes. This low-maintenance sage is adapted to grow in the shade, and thrives under trees (thus the name origin). It's very attractive mixed with other shade-loving plants.

Perennial Sage

Size: 3-4 feet in both height and spread
Light: Partial shade
Soil: Alkaline, dry, well-drained soils; clay, loam, sand
Water: Low.  Supplement water during first growing season.  Drought tolerant once established.
Bloom: Spring and Summer
Other Notes: Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, is deer resistant and fairly pest and disease-free.
Uses: Can mix with other shade-loving sages in a perennial border, bed, or along a path.  An interesting addition to Informal, Cottage, Meadow and Prairie Gardens.
