Sphaealcea ambigua var. rugosa, Apricot Mallow, is native to California growing primarily in Southern and Central California in the desert mountains, and he Mohave and Sonoran Desert regions.  This is a multi-branched perennial shrub with an upright habit growing up to 2-3 feet tall and wide.  Foliage is slightly palmate greyish green leaves with serrated edges.  The bright orange flowers bloom intermittently up the stem throughout the year.

Bloom: Numerous buttercup-shaped orange flowers bloom February through November

Other Notes: Relatively short-lived but usually self-seeds.  This plant provides a steady source of pollen and nectar for honeybees and other insects
