Verbena lilacina 'De La Mina' - De La Mina Verbena                                                         AKA: Purple Cedros Island Verbena

Although De La Mina Verbena is not endemic to California, it is considered a California native because it's native range falls within the California floristic province.  This verbena with its small green foliage grows in a mounding form up to 2 feet tall and spreading out 3 to 4 feet.  Cluster of fragrant dark purple flowers sit atop sturdy 8-inch stalks most of the year in the right conditions.  Although this plant is tolerant of dry conditions, moderate watering during the dry summer and fall will keep this plant lush and flowering. This is a new product this season.

Evergreen Perennial Herbaceous Shrub
Size: 1 - 2 ft. tall' 3 - 4 ft. wide
Sun: Sun on the coast; Cool sun, light shade inland
Water: Low
Soil: Loamy, well-draining soil.  Tolerates clay as long as it isn't overwatered.
Bloom: Purple flower.  Year-round bloom if kept watered and dead-headed.
Notes and other uses: Flower gardens, butterfly gardens, garden containers
