Heirloom cucamelons are grape-sized fruits that look like tiny watermelons with a cucumber flavor, just slightly tart. Also known as Mexican sour gherkins or sanditas, cucamelons are eaten fresh, pickled, or used as an olive substitute (think martinis). The fruits sour some as they mature. Log vines up to 10 feet produce plenty of harvest from summer to fall: trellis or wires for trailing required, but also a great plant for containers or hanging baskets. This is a new product this season; plants are quite small.
